Gaming Hall

LepreCon traditionally has a very strong Gaming Hall and Westercon 70 plans on keeping up that tradition by dedicating the entire Abbey to gaming throughout the convention. That’s 3,620 square feet of Gaming Hall, folks!

Our gaming track will be branded CONflagration, because that was the name of the standalone gaming convention that our sponsoring body, Leprecon, Inc., mounted in 2012 and which has continued on as the gaming track at succeeding LepreCons.

Westercon 70’s Game Coordinator is Captain Earl C. Hedges, Jr. You can contact him at

Gaming Schedule

Our Gaming Schedule is live, with all our boardgames, card games and role playing games, not to mention our games companies, GMs and their bios. There’s also the Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator running every couple of hours, as is our Oculus Rift Virtual Reality demo. There are even a couple of panels, a workshop for kids and some miniaturing painting sessions.

So people can enjoy CONflagration, we have worked with Game Masters, Dungeon Masters and Demonstration Teams to provide games to play.

Sign Ups will be necessary as seating for these events will be limited to 6 or 7 people per table in 4 to 6 hour blocks. All you have to do is sign up for the games you want to play.

  1. Game sign up will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Once sign ups are full, additional names will be put on an alternate list.
  2. Full, closed events will seat those on the sign up lists first, followed by those on the alternate list, should anyone on the initial sign up list not be able to attend.
  3. We will take special requests on a case by case basis for those that wanted to play and did not get a chance to by scheduling a special session for them with one of the Gaming Staff. However, be advised we will not be able to honor all special requests as we may not be able to run extra sessions for every event.

Common Questions that people are asking of me this year:

Q: So what if someone signs up for multiple games, then doesn’t show?
A: Then we go to an alternate, hence the alternate sign up list.

Q: What if the above person is playing in multiple games and no one else is getting to play?
A: We will address any issues during the convention. I will be personally fine tuning programming options as necessary to give everyone a fair chance to play and to ensure that everyone gets a chance to play.

If anyone has more questions, feel free to e-mail me at I will do my best to respond in a timely manner.

Confirmed Program Items

lets you turn your living room into the bridge of a spaceship. You and your friends assume the jobs of Captain, Helm, Science, Communication, Engineering and Weapon Control. Together you operate your ship and defend the sector from evil aliens.

Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together. One computer runs the simulation and the “main screen”, while the others serve as workstations for the normal jobs a bridge officer might do. Artemis is a social game where several players are together in one room (“bridge”) and, while they all work together, one player plays the Captain, a person who sits in the middle, doesn’t have a workstation, and tells everyone what to do.

Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Experience

Step into the next generation of gaming! Oculus radically redefines digital entertainment. We will be conducting short demonstrations of an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. The exact applications are yet to be determined, but they will range from 360 degree environments and movies to interactive experiences and games. We will have signup sheets in the gaming room.

Painting Game Figurines

Learn how to paint miniatures in Abbey North, led by Michael Duckett, Sr. Painting techniques will be described, then participants get to try! Great workshop for anyone wanting to learn how to paint miniatures. Adults, teens, and kids with parents are welcome to come and paint.

Rod and Lola Davidson will be running tournaments each day from Sunday to Tuesday, at 9.00am. Sign up and see if you can be the best of the best at Settlers of Catan (Sunday), Ticket to Ride (Monday) or Splendor (Tuesday).
